Why I Believe the Bible
Although I was raised as a Christian, I had never read the Bible and I thought that many of the stories I heard from the Bible were unbelievable. Many people believe that the Bible is mythology or fiction, but it’s a compilation of true stories about the past and prophecies about the future. Below are some of the reasons I believe the unbelievable stories of Bible.
- Success – The Bible has not only survived, but has thrived as the best-selling book in history!
- Accuracy – The locations, events and times of the Bible have been proven accurate, and the disciples who were eyewitnesses died for preaching about what they witnessed.
- Locations – Most of the places described in the Bible are still in existence today, and modern archaeologists have found evidence for many of the places in the Bible that no longer exist.
- Events – The Bible contains hundreds of predictions or prophecies about future events that have already come to pass. Many of them were about Jesus. The final book of the Bible, Revelation, was written 2,000 years ago about the future that is yet to come as of 2023.
- Time – The years presented in the Bible flow from one author to the next and correspond to secular history.
- People – The faults and failures of God’s people are readily exposed to portray reality rather than perfection.
- Connectedness – The Bible truly does fit together like a puzzle. Even though it was written by more than 40 people over a period of about 1,500 years, it’s all one amazingly connected story.
- Nature – It’s impossible for me to look at the beauty of the earth, the perfect order of our universe, and the amazing ways our bodies function and not believe in a creator. In other words, I can’t admire the creation yet deny the creator.
- Victory – More than anything else, I believe the Bible because of the amazing transformation that has occurred in my life as a result of having a personal relationship with Jesus. The Bible is His love letter to me and the more I read it the more I fall in love with Jesus. When I focus on how much Jesus loves me, I can trust Him for my health, wealth and relationships.
Points to Ponder
- The Bible is a story of the perfect LOVE of God and Jesus for imperfect people.
- God IS LOVE and Jesus IS LOVE.
- Jesus came to the earth because of LOVE.
- Jesus suffered and died on the cross because of LOVE.
- Jesus wants you to accept His free gift through faith, so you can spend eternity with Him because He LOVES YOU!
- Jesus LOVES every person of every race, nation, tribe, and tongue, BUT every person has to freely choose to receive His FREE gift of salvation.
- Religions are about rules, but relationships are about LOVE. Jesus LOVES you and wants a personal relationship with you.
- Heaven is wherever Jesus is; Hell is wherever Jesus is not.
- The Bible is filled with true stories of free will, which includes evil, but God’s will is good, pleasing and perfect.
- Christians are a poor representation of Jesus, so look to the perfect Jesus, the Christ, as your example, not imperfect people.
- You don’t have to believe the entire Bible to become a Christian. You only need to believe in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God who died for your sins and then the Holy Spirit will empower you to understand the Bible over time.
