The Bible was written from about 1500BC until about AD100. It’s possible that some books, such as Job, were written before the birth of Moses. But Moses, the author of the first 5 books of the Old Testament, didn’t start writing until about 1500BC.
WHEN did the events of Old Testament happen?
The historical events recorded in the Old Testament span approximately 4,000 years before the birth of Jesus from 4000BC to AD 1. Moses, the author of Genesis through Deuteronomy, was born around 1600BC and started writing around 1500BC. By the time he started writing, the first 2,500 years were historical. Most of the other books were written about the time the events were happening, although there are some books that contain prophecies that about future events. The consistency and connectedness over thousands of years can only be attributed to the Spirit of God.
