WHAT is the New Testament?

The New Testament is the primary religious text for Christians. There are 27 Books of the New Testament written by 10 authors about events that took place on 2 Continents — Asia and Europe. Jesus and His message of LOVE, is the central subject of the New Testament. The New Testament is an account of the birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus, the Christ, as well as the spread of the early Christian church.

WHO wrote the books of the New Testament?

The books of the New Testament were written in Greek by 10+ different authors — all Jewish, except for Luke. The first 4 books of the New Testament are called Gospels meaning Good News (about Jesus). The Gospels of Matthew and John were written by 2 of the 12 Disciples (Matthew and John). The Gospel of Mark was written by John Mark, a companion of Paul. The Gospel of Luke was written by Luke, a gentile (non-Jewish) doctor. Luke also wrote the book of Acts.

The disciple, John, wrote 3 books of John and the book of Revelation. The disciple, Peter, wrote 2 books of Peter. Paul, a former Christian persecutor, wrote 13 of the 27 books called Letters or Epistles. The author of the book of Hebrews may have been Barnabas, a companion of Paul. WHEN did the events of New Testament happen?

The historical events recorded in the New Testament span approximately 100 years starting with the birth of Jesus, the Christ around AD 1 or 2,000 years ago. Most of the books of the New Testament were written very soon after the death of Jesus in AD 33 which adds to their reliability. There is one prophetic book, Revelation, that is about events that will happen just before, during and after the Great Tribulation.

WHERE did the events of New Testament happen?

Most of the New Testament events took place in Israel which is in Western Asia. Jesus was born, raised and crucified in Israel which is in Western Asia, but he spent a few years of his childhood in Egypt. After the death of Jesus, the disciples started spreading the good news about salvation through Jesus, in Europe (Greece and Italy) and Western Asia (Turkey).
