One Page Bible Summary: Before the Death of Jesus

In the beginning, God created everything and gave life to Adam and Eve about 6,000 years ago.  They could have lived happily forever with God in the Garden of Eden, but they believed the lies of Satan and ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (the law).  Their disobedience resulted in immediate spiritual death for themselves and mankind. Physical death eventually came upon them as well.

Adam and Eve opened the door to sin through disobedience and sin spread like wildfire for about 1,500 years. Finally, God decided to physically cleanse the earth of evil by flooding the earth with rain. Noah found grace with God and He made a covenant with Noah to save him and his family in the ark. After the flood, Noah’s 3 sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, repopulated the earth. Unfortunately, the world was soon full of evil again.

About 500 years after the flood, God separated some people with whom He would have a personal relationship.  God chose Abraham, a descendant of Noah’s son, Shem. When Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90, God blessed then with a miracle baby named Isaac.  Isaac’s son, Jacob (renamed Israel), had 12 sons who formed the nation of Israel.

Jacob’s favorite son, Joseph, was hated by his brothers, so they sold him into slavery. However, God was with Joseph and he was later freed and promoted to second in command under Pharaoh. During a famine, Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt for food and Joseph not only forgave them, but he moved his family to Egypt. Over time, Joseph died and a new Pharaoh took over Egypt. He was concerned that the Israelites were rapidly multiplying, so he enslaved them and ordered the midwives to kill all the male babies. But God saved Moses and when he was 80, God sent him to convince Pharaoh to release the Israelites. Pharaoh didn’t want to free the Israelite slaves, so God sent 10 plagues on Egypt. After the plague of death in Egypt and the miraculous PASSOVER salvation of the Israelites, they left Egypt and crossed the Red Sea into freedom.

About 500 years after Abraham, God made a covenant with Abraham’s descendants through Moses. The Ten Commandments were written on stone and the people were blessed if they obeyed and cursed if they disobeyed. The Ten Commandments and all of the other laws of the Old Testament were given to point out our need for Jesus, our Savior. (Galatians 3:21-25

About 40 years later, the Israelites finally entered the Promised Land (Israel). Joshua was appointed as a Judge to lead the people and the period of the Judges continued until the Israelites wanted a King like other nations. When the leaders followed God, the Israelites were blessed. When the leaders worshiped the false gods of their enemies and forgot about God, they were attacked by their enemies.

Kings ruled for about 500 years until Israel was conquered by the Babylonians in 586BC. Jerusalem and the temple was destroyed and the Israelites were taken captive for 70 years. After the Israelites were released from Babylon, many returned to Jerusalem and rebuilt the temple and wall. They rededicated their lives to God and had victory over their enemies.  Unfortunately, many later abandoned their faith and were eventually ruled by the Greeks and later the Romans.

One Page Bible Summary: After the Death of Jesus

About 500 years after Israel was conquered by the Babylonians or 2,000 years ago, Jesus came to earth to give us eternal life. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mary so He would not be tainted by a sinful human bloodline. When we have faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit will live in our hearts forever. We will also get a new immortal body when Jesus returns to reign and rule! If a loved one has died, their body will be resurrected like Jesus. For those who are alive when Jesus returns, they will be changed.

Jesus, who was sinless, was baptized just before He started His ministry, when He was about 30 years old. When we get baptized we are declaring that we want to die to sin and be raised to eternal life with Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Baptism cleanses our conscience and spiritually cleanses our hearts of evil. God always sees us as clean because of Jesus.

After Jesus got baptized, He formed a new nation of Christians where everyone can become a citizen of His Heavenly Kingdom by faith in Him. He started by selecting 12 disciples whom he taught, in Word and deed, about the Kingdom of God.

About 3 years later, Jesus became the perfect Lamb of God, and allowed Himself to be sacrificed on the cross for the sins of the world. He died in our place to give us freedom forever from the punishment of sin!

Once Jesus died, the New Covenant signed with His pure blood, went into effect. The New Covenant reversed the curse of the law. Jesus came out of the grave on the third day and gave us the promise of eternal life and resurrection.

After His death, resurrection and return to His Heavenly Throne, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to empower His leaders. They received power from the Holy Spirit and spent the rest of their lives spreading the good news that everyone can be saved from death because of Jesus’ death on the cross.

The same Holy Spirit that was sent to the 12 Disciples is sent to live in believers as soon as we receive Jesus as our Savior. The Holy Spirit will never leave us and we can live in victory now and eternally!

One Page Bible Summary: Jesus is the Center Piece

In Revelation 21:6, Jesus clearly states that HE is the beginning and the end. Everything in the Bible points to Jesus. The Old Testament is more about the imperfect PHYSICAL world that points us to our need for a Savior. The New Testament actually reveals Jesus as our Savior and He invites us to be a citizen of His SPIRITUAL world. The Physical is temporary, but the Spiritual is eternal.

Revelation 21 (NLT)
6And he also said, “It is finished!
I am the Alpha and the Omega
—the Beginning and the End.
To all who are thirsty I will give freely
from the springs of the water of life.
7All who are victorious
will inherit all these blessings,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my children.

Choose Jesus and He will give you eternal LIFE and you will be CLEANSED of sin by His blood. He will give you citizenship in His NATION where you have FREEDOM from slavery to sin and death. Jesus will make a COVENANT of love with you so you can rest in His finished work. He will make you a LEADER who leads people into God’s Kingdom and He will give you eternal VICTORY!
